The 2nd Croatian Rural Parliament was successfully held in Sveti Martin na Muri, hosted by LAG Međimurski doli i bregi, assisted by the Croatian Rural Development Network, Lifeclass Terme Sveti Martin, the Municipality of Sveti Martin na Muri and supported by Međimurje County.
On Thursday, 20 April 2017, visitors at the Second Croatian Rural Parliament in Sveti Martin na Muri will have an opportunity to receive information at an informational booth, within the framework of implementation of EU-funded project GRASS Croatia Growth of Rural Areas for Successful Society about GRASS Croatia Growth of Rural Areas for Successful Society project and objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU for sustainable development of rural areas.
President of the LAG, Sanja Krištofić, pointed out that the LAG has been operating for 5 years and that she is exceptionally honoured because approximately 300 participants gathered at one place. The topic of this year’s parliament was “Through Cooperation to Comprehensive Development”. The first day of the parliament started with a plenary session of the Croatian Rural Parliament, “Selski spominki” (Countryside talk) followed by the Rural Caffe with topics such as innovative approaches to agriculture, “zero kilometres” concept: local food at the local table, and the identity of rural areas as a staging area for development. The participants were also addressed by the Međimurje County prefect Matija Posavec who congratulated the LAG for the organisation, but he also pointed out that organisation of the event sends a favourable image of the county throughout the country as the area of real perspective in the rural segment, capable of significant strides in rural living through experience, development, investment and investments and improving quality of living in the area. Saturday was reserved for presentation of results of field workshops, conclusions and adoption of the Parliament’s Declaration, a press conference and a study tour of the Međimurje.
